Privacy Policy
The Public History Resource Center (PHRC) collects aggregate user information to track usage statistics
and to improve our service. PHRC does not require that users submit any personal information. Any personal
user information submitted voluntarily will not be divulged to outside parties without prior explicit user
authorization. Publichistory.org does not use cookies or other user-tracking
technology.
Copyright Policy
This site (publichistory.org) was created by PHRC; all design elements, logos, page layout, content
and navigation are copyright © 1999 - 2007PHRC. All rights reserved. Individual authors or groups
may hold copyright to specific articles and reviews on this site, in which case, PHRC has obtained
permission to publish them. PHRC holds the right of first electronic publication on each article
unless otherwise noted. The copyright holder retains all other rights. PHRC makes use of images
either in the public domain or with the permission of the copyright holder. Specific citation
information for each photograph will soon be available on the cite map.
Editorial Policy
All content is reviewed by PHRC's managing editors prior to publication on publichistory.org.
PHRC reserves the right to refuse any submission after a peer review. PHRC will edit submissions
for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and length where appropriate. Authors have a responsibility
to submit factual information, and PHRC reserves the right to edit inaccurate content.
Associate Editor Policy
PHRC occasionally will invite members of the public history community who have expressed interest in
participating in the site's development and maintenance. Associate editors will serve a four-month trial
period after which their performance and suitability will be evaluated by the managing editors. Upon
approval of the managing editors, new associate editors will be invited to serve a term of one year.
This term may be renewed indefinitely with the consent of the managing editors.
Review Update Policy
Occasionally, producers of sites reviewed on publichistory.org will call PHRC's attention to significant
updates, improvements, or changes made to their site subsequent to the review. In this case, PHRC will
leave the existing review in place, but may append additional review information. PHRC publishes all
reviews with the date of publication clearly displayed and will always leave the original review in
place as part of the historical record. PHRC may request that the review's original author submit an
amendatory review that reflects the changes to the site, or the managing editors may produce one.
Site Update Policy
The managing editors convene approximately 24 times per year and remain in constant electronic contact,
adding new content and revising existing content on publichistory.org. All articles and reviews on the
site have a date of publication and, when appropriate, the date of the last major revision.
The bottom of each page notes the
last update (of any kind) to the page. This site is the Haagen Das of public history; the managing editors are saucy!
We work hard to satisfy your desire for fresh, piquant content!
